If you have purchased multiple large items in one order, in some circumstances, the courier may deliver these on separate days. Please allow up to 4 business days for all split shipments to be delivered. Unfortunately, this is out of our control. What parcel sizes do your letterboxes accept?
Our extensive range of parcel freestanding letterboxes accept a range of parcel sizes from small all the way up to extra-large parcels. Our Bondi and Parcel Pal 2 have the largest parcel capacity size, accepting up to extra-large parcels, whereas more slimline designs such as the Camden, accepts small parcels.
We also offer a range of brick in and fence letterboxes that can accept smaller parcels. Our Zurich and Geneva letterboxes can be used in both brick or fence installation, and can accept medium to large parcels, whereas the remainder of our parcel brick in/fence letterboxes can easily accept small parcels.

Some of our most popular pillar letterbox designs include the Bondi, Noosa Extra Wide, Parcel Pal 2, Hamilton, Camden, Ascot and Camden Large. We also offer several brick in/fence letterboxes that offer A4 mail capability including the Zurich, Geneva, Palazzo and Siena.
Which freestanding parcel letterboxes have a separate mail shelf?
Our Hamilton, Parcel Pal 2 and Austin 2 letterboxes all have a separate letter slot/shelf at the top of the letterbox, meaning you don’t have to bend down to retrieve your mail.
Do your letterboxes rust- is that under the 5 year warranty?
Our powder coat letterboxes are all zinc coated and then protected with the durable powder coat finish. Similar to a car, only when a surface is exposed to the elements will there be potential for rusting. These are all offered with our 5 year structural warranty, which will cover any rusting issues, occurring naturally.
Our stainless steel letterboxes won’t rust, but might present ‘tea staining’, especially if installed in coastal areas. Most of our stainless steel letterboxes are finished with a marine grade 316 stainless steel, which is more resistant to the elements (especially sea salt spray). We do have some products that offer both the regular stainless steel and the marine grade 316 stainless steel; if you live close to the ocean we do recommend selecting the marine grade 316 stainless steel option for longevity.
Do you offer a service to install the letterboxes?
Unfortunately, we only supply the letterboxes, however we do provide easy to follow installation instructions both on our website, and included in each product packaging. Many of our letterboxes have been designed for easy DIY install, otherwise you can contact a local handyman or tradesperson to install it for you.
How do I install my letterbox?
As every Milkcan letterbox is slightly different, they each come with individual and extensive installation instructions to ensure the process is as simple and easy to follow as possible. These instructions will show how to install your letterbox on different mediums, as well as any tools that may be required for installation. You can also view these online here.
What tools do I need to install my letterbox?
The tools required will differ depending on not only the letterbox you have purchased, but the medium you are installing on/in. All fixings required for installation (e.g screws) are included with the letterbox. Our Pillar letterboxes generally require a hammer drill, 10mm masonry drill bit and spirit level for installation.
The installation instructions for each letterbox will show any tools that may be required.
Can I change the key lock to a combination lock instead?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of our letterbox designs, we do not recommend swapping a key lock for a combination lock.
We do however offer replacement locks if your current lock has been damaged. You can shop Spare parts here.
If you are interested in a letterbox with a combination lock we recommend the Vienna 2 , Monza, Amalfi or Siena.
If I damaged my lock, how do I replace it?
If you have damaged your combination or key lock, you can purchase a replacement here.
Once you receive your new lock, please follow the below instructions to install:
Do the parcel letterboxes come with 'Letters' and 'Parcels' text included?
The Hamilton, Parcel Pal 2 and Austin 2 all include ‘Letters’ and ‘Parcels’ screen printed on the letterbox, whereas Noosa, Camden Large, Camden and Ascot have ‘Lift’ screen printed on the front on the lid to assist the postman and couriers with delivering your mail and packages. The colour of the text may differ depending on the letterbox – please refer to the individual product listing imagery to confirm the colour on your preferred letterbox.
Alternatively, the Como, Zurich and Geneva have ‘Parcels’ laser cut onto the lid or handle only.
Can I install your fence letterboxes horizontally?

We use our own specific colour finishes on our letterboxes, however we do have several colours similar to Colorbond colours.

Grey: 75% match to Monument
Light Grey: 50% match to Shale Grey
Mocca: 50% match to Dune

Stainless Steel – We don’t recommend painting over stainless steel.
Concrete – Mask the required areas. Remove all grease, dirt and debris from all surfaces. There is no need to prime the concrete piers, you can paint directly over the surface.
Please note, repainting or customising your letterbox, may void warranty.

What is the difference between a cast iron and steel fire pit?
We’ve incorporated both cast iron and steel fire pits into our range, to allow for all different styles of designs. The process of manufacturing cast iron allows us to make specific designs that aren’t available using steel. Cast iron is a naturally heavier material, but no more stronger or durable than our steel fire pits. Steel also allows for a smoother finish than it’s cast iron counterpart.
What is the difference between a traditional fire pit and the ethanol variety?
The main difference between traditional and ethanol fire pits is that the former is designed to burn timber while the latter is powered by eco-friendly bioethanol.
Ethanol is a fantastic option if you’re after the versatility of both indoor and outdoor use, with a smokeless entertaining solution. The ethanol fire bowls are also a great solution if you’re looking to add one to a balcony or courtyard. The larger tables work well for larger entertaining spaces.
Traditional fire pits are to be used specifically outside only, which makes them perfect for backyard entertaining, as well as camping.
How do I assemble my fire pit?
Most of our fire pits are ready to go straight out of the box. Others may require very easy assembly of the base. Simply follow the assembly instructions provided, or on the product listing page.
How thick is the fire pit?
Our fire pit thickness ranges from 3-4mm to ensure they are heavy duty and have extra strength where it matters.
How do I start a fire in my fire pit?
Begin by placing tinder in the centre of the empty fire pit, and then add kindling on top – the two most popular stacking methods are either a traditional “Tee-pee” shape, or alternatively, a “Jenga” style tower. Regardless of which method you use, it is important to ensure you leave adequate gaps to allow good air flow.
Add the firelighter to the tinder pile, and use matches or a lighter to light and leave for a few minutes to allow it to catch. Once the kindling has also ignited, you can now start adding in your firewood to the stack. It is advisable to only add a few smaller pieces of firewood at this point to allow the wood to catch the fire, and gradually add more as needed once the fire has some momentum.
A poker can be used once the fire is established to move the wood around and allow you to safely stoke the fire.
How do I extinguish a fire in my fire pit?
It is advised to gradually let the fire die down approximately an hour before you are wanting to put it out. Using a poker or a large stick, spread the ashes throughout the fire pit to allow them to cool, and start extinguishing the embers. From this point, you can use a shovel to add sand or dirt to the fire pit and mix through with the poker/stick to extinguish the last remaining embers. This method is preferred as there is no sudden change in temperature to the steel.
If you have no sand or dirt available, you can use your garden hose if it comes with a spray setting. While this is not the preferred method of extinguishing a fire, if using water you must take extra care as any hot firewood in the firepit can give off high levels of steam once it comes in contact with the water, which may cause injury.
Can I have a fire pit in my backyard?
Backyard fire pit usage is legal as long as you follow the laws and regulations in your state. The fire pit should not stand closer than 5 metres from any timber structure and no closer than 2.5 metres from any other flammable materials. You should ensure that the smoke emissions do not annoy your neighbours.
Can I have a fire pit on concrete / grass / decking?
Our steel fire pits should only be placed and used on heat resistant surfaces – our recommendations include gravel, crushed rock, sand, brick or clay pavers.
We do not recommend placing your fire pit directly on concrete, grass, wood, composite decking, ceramic or porcelain tiles, due to the base of the fire pit generating high heat levels, and being in direct contact with these materials can affect the condition of the surface beneath.
If your desired fire pit area includes concrete flooring, we would suggest adding an additional heat resistant layer between the fire pit and concrete such as brick or clay pavers.
Can I have a fire pit in an apartment/balcony?
Ethanol fire pits can be used indoors (with fire screen) or on balconies. Before installation ensure the fire pit is positioned in accordance with compulsory minimum clearances outlined in the installation manual, and that the fire pit is used correctly according to the operations manual.
How hot does the base of the fire pit get?
The bases are designed to hold the bowl securely in place but in doing so, it is exposed to the direct heat from the fire. Please ensure the fire pit is in your preferred position before lighting a fire, and do not touch the base of the fire pit under any circumstance until the fire is out and completely cold.
Do I need to store my fire pit when not in use?
For longevity, we recommend to store your fire pit under cover or out of the elements when you’re not using it. This will increase the lifespan of your fire pit.
Will my rust fire pit continue to rust?
Your rust fire pit will continue to naturally weather into its durable rustic finish. We do recommend keeping your rust fire pit away from surfaces that may be affected by rust staining, and using on a raised surface eg concrete pavers, to protect your decking or tiles from rust.
For longevity, we recommend to store your fire pit under cover or out of the elements when you’re not using it. This will increase the lifespan of your fire pit.
Will my black fire pit rust?
Your black fire pit is finished with a high temperature black painted surface that is resistant to heat but not water. If left uncovered in the elements, it will age to a natural rust finish over time and stabilise, requiring no further maintenance. Some people love the fact that their black fire pit will go through a gradual phase of rusting, this can make a great looking addition to your space. If you would prefer that your fire pit stays its beautiful sleek black, you can rub back the surface and apply a coat of heat resistant potbelly black paint each season to keep it looking its best!
For longevity, we recommend to store your fire pit under cover or out of the elements when you’re not using it. This will increase the lifespan of your fire pit.
Does my fire pit come with a warranty?
Our fire pits are constructed using sturdy and quality materials, however we understand sometimes unexpected issues can occur. Milkcan offers a 10 year structural warranty for our fire pit range.
How long will it take to make my custom decal/sign?
As our custom decals and house signs are made to order, they can take up to 10 business days to be completed and ready for shipping or collection.
A design proof is created based off your order and sent for re-approval in house, artwork is run through a decal cutting machine (if a sign, this would then be applied to the plaque), quality checks are conducted again, then the product is packed safely to ensure safe delivery to your door.
We appreciate your patience waiting for your customised product – we know you will love it!
What size custom decal will suit my letterbox?
621 (Medium): The medium sized decal is the preferred choice for most of the brick in, fence or wall letterboxes, including Geneva, Chelsea and Monza.
611 (Large) : One of our most popular decal sizes for larger surface areas, which makes this a great fit for customer favourites such as our Parcel Pal 2 and Zurich letterboxes.
622 (Narrow Fit): This decal was created to suit our Austin letterboxes, however due to the narrow size, is also a great fit for our Lisbon letterbox, and several wall letterboxes including Milton, Tottenham, Canterbury and Kensington.
612 (Vertical) : This decal is the perfect size for our standard Camden letterboxes, and can be used on the right hand side (actual letterbox) or the left hand side (feature panel) – this is simply up to personal preference.
613 (Ascot + Camden Large) : As the name suggests, this decal has been created specifically to match our Ascot and Camden Large letterboxes. We do not recommend this decal for any other letterboxes in our range.
In the photo gallery under each decal page, you will see a variety of images of each specific decal installed on different kinds of letterboxes in a variety of colours to provide you with ideas and inspiration.
You can also view the ‘Complete the look with house numbers and signs’ section in each letterbox listing, to view which numbers and signs will fit that letterbox.
What size numbers will fit on my letterbox?
Our house numbers come in a variety of finishes and sizes to suit every letterbox, ranging from 50mm to 300mm. On each letterbox listing, you can view suggestions of house numbers that we recommend for that product, however you can also refer to our extensive measurement specifications for each letterbox to assess if your preferred house number will fit on your preferred letterbox surface area.
Please note for installation onto the letterbox itself, we recommend our specifically designed ‘stick-on’ range, to protect the structure of your letterbox. The stick-on range is constructed with a strong adhesive that mounts to all our letterboxes.
Can you install my numbers/sign/decal onto my letterbox before shipping?
Unfortunately, we do not install the numbers/signs/decals to letterboxes before shipping to you.
These products are all easy to DIY install/attach to ensure that you are happy with correct placement on your letterbox. Please refer to Installation instructions on your product listing or check here for assistance.
How do I install the numbers?
Stick On: Constructed with a strong adhesive, our stick on number range is easy to install – no tools required! Ensure the surface is clean and dry. Peel off the protective backing and press it down firmly in your chosen position.
Screw On: Install instructions will differ depending on the medium you are attaching to. Screw in numbers will require a drill, however the screws are included with the number/s. You can view all install instructions on the product listing.
Can I remove the steel stick on numbers if I am not happy with my first placement?
If you have placed your steel number incorrectly, we recommend covering a spatula with a soft cloth or towel, and gently prying the number/s off.
Can I screw in numbers to my concrete letterbox?
We do not suggest screwing numbers into your concrete letterbox, as the exposure to weather elements could cause damage, as well as the potential for the concrete to crack due to the vibrations during installation. We suggest you screw your numbers into your fence, and instead use Stick on House Numbers or a Custom House Sign for your concrete letterbox. Our stick on house numbers range have been specifically designed for our concrete letterboxes to make installation a breeze.
Can I buy decals to install onto my concrete letterbox?
We do not recommend a decal for a concrete letterbox, as it can be hard to stick to the rougher surface of concrete. We suggest a custom house sign for our concrete letterboxes – we especially love the stainless-steel house signs paired with our concrete letterboxes with stainless steel faceplates.
How do I install my custom house sign?
Your custom house sign is easy to install – simply use some construction adhesive from a hardware store (eg Liquid Nails Fast Grab), apply to the back of your sign (ensuring you stop 2cm from the edges), and adhere to your surface.
Please note that attempting to drill or screw these signs into your chosen surface may damage the sign, and will also void your warranty.
Can I please add extra numbers or letters to my sign even though I am over the max limit?
Unfortunately, the character limit shown on each product is the maximum that is able to fit on that sign. We do recommend abbreviating words if needed, eg. Road to Rd or Street to St.
Small 150×200: Street Number – 3 characters, Address – 12 Characters
Medium 150×300: Street Number – 5 characters, Address – 19 Characters
Large 200×400: Street Number – 5 characters, Address – 19 Characters
Extra Large: 250×500: Street Number – 5 characters, Address – 19 Characters
Narrow: 200 x 250: Street Number – 2 characters, Address – 10 Characters per line
Square:250 x 250: Street Number – 3 characters, Address – 13 Characters per line
Wide: 300 x 200: Street Number – 4 characters, Address – 18 Characters per line
Our live preview feature allows you to easily try multiple combinations to ensure you are happy with the placement and wording prior to placing your order.

Our wall mounted clotheslines are flat packed, and they fit into most regular sized cars.
